Finke Desert Race – June Long Weekend
Date: 7th – 10th June 2019
This iconic desert race attracts entrants from all over the world to compete in the ultimate off road desert race over a multi terrain course. Including bikes, cars, quad bikes and buggies, the incredible 2-day race rips through the desert from Alice Springs to Aputula. Entrants compete to win the King of the Desert Trophy.
Alice Springs Camel Cup
Date: 20th July 2019
Camel racing anyone? Events don’t get any more outback than the annual Alice Springs Camel Cup. Now, if you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting a camel, then you’ll probably be aware of how drastically uncooperative they can be, this makes for a fantastic spectacle when watching people trying to race them. Pitch up from 11am on the day to take in all the hilarity to enjoy a wealth of activities before and after the race a midday including: belly dancers, rickshaw races, rides, food and drink stalls and an all around fun atmosphere!
2019 Rotary Henley on Todd Regatta
Date: 17th August 2019
This truly is the world’s most weird and wonderful regatta that takes place on the dry sands of the Todd River. The Henley on Todd Regatta mainly comprises of a day of complete fun where teams and individuals race “boats” on the dry outback river bed in Alice Springs. Along the way you’ll see some truly uniquely fashioned vessels which add to the hilarity of the event. And the reason for this bizarre event? It’s a major fundraiser for the three local Rotary clubs in Alice.
Alice Springs Street Art Festival
Date: 1st August – 1st September
Stop by Alice Springs before an Uluru tour and you’ll witness the city come to life in a visual extravaganza as local painters, artists and designers collaborate to transform the city into a living masterpiece for the Alice Springs Street Art Festival. Alice Desert Festival
Date: 1st September – 14th October 2019
Desert Festival is presented by Red Hot Arts Central Australia and is a festival that shares the stories and culture that has been born out of the arid desert landscape of the Red Centre. There will be a jam-packed programme of events taking place over several weeks all around Alice Springs.
